At SMJ Communications Consultants, we pride ourselves on being an organization that not only provides the best possible service for our education clients, but opportunities for students to achieve and excel in the communications field.
That is why we are pleased and proud to announce our first HBCU internship program! We will be selecting three students (two juniors and one senior) from North Carolina-based Historically Black Colleges and Universities for a 10-week program designed to give young Black professionals a close-up look into the educational communications space and the work that is needed in that field, especially by Black professionals!

The program consists of:
- An Introduction week
- A week centered around strategic communications
- Six weeks of virtual mentorship
- Capstone projects
- Community Service Project
- The final week, known as “SMJ Homecoming Week”, will consist of Capstone project presentations, mock interviews, a networking event and a closing celebration.
This is a tremendous opportunity for communications/media students to learn more about a growing field with opportunities for career development. If you are interested in this program or know of a student who would be a great fit for this program, please apply and encourage others to apply!
